Oued el Abib, an active torrent and main tributary of the Oum er-Rbia, has carved a deep 400-600m gorge in the western part of the Middle Atlas mountains. The abrupt red wall of the gorge rises up to the left, but the bottom is not visible. The narrow tarmac road (P 3105) winds along the cliff above the vertical wall, heads abruptly downward in spectacular sharp turns towards the river, then crosses over a metal bridge affording a view of the canyon entrance.
