The souk, at the entrance to town when coming from Ouazzane, has its own special brand of animation. Early in the morning the town is already abuzz. The square is taken over by a colourful crowd of farmers and mountain folk in their costumes from the Rif, veiled city-dwellers clothed in white, and older and younger men wearing djellabas - ecru in summer, brown in winter.
