El Jadida : Michelin's recommendations
From its past El-Jadida has preserved the old Portuguese fortress (Mazagan), on the UNESCO World Heritage List. A stroll inside its (16C) ramparts, destroyed before any bastions were rebuilt (19C), and a visit to the Portuguese cistern are a must. You can also head for the sandy beaches at Haouzia, and Sidi-Bouzid to the south. Walk down to the end of the jetty for a fine view of El-Jadida, especially at night when it is lit up with a thousand lights.
