Stop at the foot of the famous Koutoubia Mosque and Minaret, one of the masterpieces of Islamic architecture. Continue into the stunning 12th-century Kasbah area to see the distinctive carved gate, Bab Agnaou. See the 16th-century necropolis and tombs of the Saadien princess, the burial ground of the Royal family and a must-see for fans of Hispano-Mauresque craftsmanship and architecture.
Walk through the Mellah (Jewish Quarter) and visit the aristocratic El Bahia Palace to see the lush Moorish-style garden, marble paving, and cedarwood ceilings.
Have lunch in the stylish Menzeh Dada restaurant. Enjoy its air conditioning, riad-style Moroccan decor, and ambiance. Dine on delicious Marrakech-style salad, chicken lemon tagine, meatball tagine, fresh fruit, and the traditional mint tea. Vegetarian options are available on request. If you feel like it, enjoy a fine Moroccan wine (additional fees apply).
After lunch, visit the Dar Si Sai Alaouite-style palace to see a vast array of southern Moroccan crafts. Continue through the Medina and pass by many souks selling basketwork, dried fruit, and spices. Browse the goods and see handicrafts ranging from carpet, woven cloth, jewelry, lanterns, pottery, and babouches (Moroccan slippers).
Stroll through the famous Djemaa El Fnaa Square and take in the bustling atmosphere of snake charmers, singers, story tellers, and other performers. Watch the sun set behind the Koutoubia and see the people of Marrakech come out to play.
