Go back in time and discover some of Marrakech's historical sites like the Koutoubia Minaret, the El Bahia Palace, the tombs of the Saadian princes, and more.
See some of Marrakech's famous historical sites and hear your guide explain the history along the way. Visit the austere Koutoubia Mosque and Minaret, a beautifully proportioned example of Hispano-Moresque art. It rises 252 feet (78 meters) into the sky, and its 4 copper balls were made from gold jewelry belonging to the wife of Yacoub El Mansour. The 17th-century white koubba stands at the foot, bearing the tomb of Lalla Zohra, the daughter of a slave who became a religious leader.
Check out the El Bahia Palace, a 19th-century building with 2-acre gardens and a haphazard arrangement of inner courtyards and apartments. More than 1,000 craftsmen from Fez took 7 years to complete this structure and its interior decoration of carved cedarwood and stucco.
See the first necropolis of Marrakech, where mausoleums were built in the 16th century to receive the tombs of the Saadian princes. They were discovered in 1916 by a group of WWI pilots.
Witness the collection of art historian Bert Flint on display in the Tiskiwin House. Have a glass of mint tea on the way, see some craftsmanship, or visit a Berber apothecary to buy some spices or magic potions.
