Boulevard du Front de Mer leads to the entrance of the fishing harbour. Safi is one of the world’s great sardine ports. The sardine fishing, which starts in May, feeds into a dozen canneries in the southern part of town. It’s a colourful spectacle full of bustling activity when the boats unload their cargo on the dock. Early in the morning their catch is hawked at the large dockside market.
