Tamegroute : Michelin's recommendations

Tamegroute has a very particular atmosphere, due to the maze of little underground streets crisscrossing it. They are always cool and sometimes completely closed off to daylight. It is here in this semi-darkness that the potters make their highly prized work. Be sure to visit their quarter. Note also that Tamegroute contains the Nassiriya zaouïa, which continues to fulfil its role of providing instruction. The koranic school library contains over 4,000 volumes, including a Koran written on gazelle skin dating back to the 11C.
