Sultan Moulay Ismaïl (1672-1727), who drove the English from Tangier, presided over the construction of a palace whose white crenelated façade overlooks Kasbah Square. This former home of the pashas of Tangier, enlarged in the 18C and 19C, contains the Kasbah Museum. After walking through the magnificent door facing the Kasbah Mosque, explore the ethnographic section (in the great mechouar), especially the splendid ceramics, as well as the archaeological section (in the old kitchen). The piece known as La Navigation de Vénus came out of the Roman ruins at Volubilis.
