Heading west from the city centre you pass through Tangier’s chic “neighbourhood”, la Montagne, hugging the slopes of the surrounding hills. Its mansions are hidden by lush vegetation. The mirador of Perdicaris, which can be reached on the Cap Spartel road, affords a magnificent view of Spain, separated from Africa by the Strait of Gibraltar.
