Tiznit
: Michelin's recommendations
Tiznit is a crossroads in the Great Moroccan South. Whether you’re coming from the north (Agadir), south (Guelmin), east (Tafraoute) or from the coast, only one road leads to this town built in the late 19C by Moulay Hassan, which can be spotted from afar by its high ramparts. Intra-muros, cheery Méchouar Square looks like a great bazaar on Thursdays, market day. Some of the local craftsmen are still practising the town’s jewellery tradition. The modern town stretches outside the ramparts, an obligatory place of passage on the beach road from Sidi Ifni or Aglou-Plage.
