It’s thanks to the presence of the Rheris and the Ziz Rivers that here, on the edge of the desert, extends the vast Tafilalt palm grove, about a hundred kilometres south of Errachidia. Sedentary people and nomads live here thanks to the 900,000 date palms whose fruit is a staple of their diet. Nearby is a completely different landscape, where the golden reflections of the Erg Cherbi sand dunes stretch out to infinity. These two worlds may have different fates: while the palm grove is subject to ever more alarming droughts, the desert is drawing in tourists like never before!
