Aalsmeer : Michelin's recommendations

Located beside the Haarlemmermeer, a dried out lake crisscrossed by canals, and a large lake (Westeinder Plas), Aalsmeer is a centre for growing flowers under glass (carnations, roses, pot plants). The town is especially well-known for its auction market (the largest in the world), which supplies most of the florists in the country and also, given the proximity of Schiphol airport, a fair number of foreigners. Around 80% of sales are exported.
