      Pros

The welcome and the presentation of the menu were good. The bread and amuse bouche were excellent and the food was innovative and flavoursome (duck breast with strawberry coulis and guinea fowl with a mandarin sauce for instance). The owner recommended a wine which perfectly complemented the food and was also very reasonable. He selects the wines at a wine fair on a yearly basis. We had eaten here the previous night and returned as we were impressed with the restaurant.

      Cons

We would have to be very picky to find anything that we did not like.

      Pros

Serving staff were pleasant and polite. The food was for the most part well cooked and light. Portion sizes for the 4 course menu were well judged. A good bread basket.

      Cons

Common to all of the dishes was a lack of sufficient clarity and depth of flavour. Everything felt rather plain; certainly failing to justify the rather high prices. Sitting in the upstairs area, the temperature became uncomfortably hot as the evening progressed. This was only partly relieved by a waiter opening a window. Initially, the wrong bottle of wine was brought and the correct bottle only arrived after the amuse bouche. The bottle (a Chardonnay) was allowed to sit on the table in the sweltering conditions until I prompted a waiter to bring an ice bucket.
