Nearly one hundred warehouses, built between 1708 and 1829, line this canal. Restored and then turned into offices, cafés and government housing by renowned architects in the years 1985 to1988, they are a fine example of urban renewal. A neo-classical gate (1830), opening onto Kadijksplein, has been preserved.
