This building, nicknamed "de Burcht" (the fortress), was built in 1900 to house the diamond workers' trade union and is now devoted to the history of trade union activity. In particular there is a permanent exhibition set up in the union leaders' council chamber. Also inside is an elegant Art Deco lamp, worth noting for its inscriptions glorifying the attributes of trade unionism: "unity", "tenacity" and "the spirit of sacrifice".
