Bolsward : Michelin's recommendations

The Frisian town of Bolsward was founded in 713, as stated on the stone façade of its town hall. Once linked to the Zuiderzee, it knew riches and power and had the privilege of minting money from the 11C onwards. It later became a Hanseatic League town. Today it is a peaceful town located at the centre of a rich rural area. It is enlivened every three years by the award of the Frisian Literature prize named after the writer Gysbert Japicx .
