Den Helder : Michelin's recommendations

Initially a simple fishing village, this town was first called Huisduinen and extended to the east. In 1500 it became Den Helder. Napoleon, who called it the Gibraltar of the north, had it fortified in 1811. Today, Den Helder is the largest naval port in the Netherlands. It is also the departure point for boats to the island of Texel.
