This regional museum occupies the former Admiralty (1618) as well as the large building next door ( 18C). Note the small Renaissance gate of the Admiralty behind the garden wall. The museum presents a highly varied collection: Dokkum silverware, a carved wooden Frisian sleigh, paintings, ancient cabinets, findings from burial mound excavations, Frisian crafts (19C toys) and regional costumes (e.g. a black Carolingian headdress found in a burial mound).
