Flushing : Michelin's recommendations

The only large seaport in the country, Flushing, which commands the entrance to the Walcheren canal, is an industrial centre with huge naval shipyards where warships are moored. A sea terminal guarantees the link with England and Zeeland Flanders. This town gained in importance from the 14C as a result of trade and herring fishing. It was from here that Philip II finally embarked for Spain. Admiral M.A. De Ruyter (17C) was born here.
