This classical structure was built in 1668 by Pieter Post. Its facade is decorated with a bas-relief representing the weighing of cheese, which used to be done here. The Waag houses the Kaasexposeum (the Museum of Cheese), which presents an overview of the dairy industry in the Low Countries and particularly in Gouda. The pretty chapel of St. Agnes (the Agnietenkapel), located behind the public scale, has been restored.
