This elegant Mannerist building was constructed between 1602 and 1604 by Lieven de Key. It is topped by richly decorated roof dormers, and its facade is ornamented with the heads of cattle and sheep that recall its former function. This former covered meat market has become an annex of the Frans Hals Museum and serves as a hall for temporary exhibits. In addition, its cellars house Haarlem's archeological museum (the Archeologisch Museum Haarlem).
