  Het eten is erg goed. Jammer dat er een stukje plastic in de zalm zat en daar bij melding aan de gastheer niets mee werd gedaan. De bediening begrijpt niet helemaal wat goed gastheerschap betekent ( of heeft extreem goed gevoel voor humor) want bij ons verzoek om de muziek een klein tandje zachter te zetten was de reactie; oei dat wordt lastig want in dit restaurant is de muziek heilig.

  The setting is great.

  Impossible that this is a star restaurant. This was quite possibly the worst restaurant I visited over the last 6 months (in which I dined out approx 3 to 4 times a week). In 1 word: horrible! Even though we had a confirmed reservation, we had to wait 40 minutes upon arrival. I showed our restaurant reservation confirmation to which they simply stated "oh, something must have gone wrong". Not even 1 apology was made. The horrible service continued all night. The food was surprisingly bland and was nothing special at all, unlike what you find in the typical star restaurants. I realize The Netherlands is know for bad service but this was pushing it. Was celebrating a birthday (mentioned in the reservation) but no mention was made of this, and no congrats were given. They served us as if we were high school friends, talking to us in collegial terms. Some might appreciate this. All in all, if you want a special night out, go somewhere else. The only great thing about Lakes is the decoration.

  Delicious, inventive food served in pavilion overlooking harbour. Wonderful cheeseboard. Stunning terrace. Lovely wines.

  Cons

  prices can add up alarmingly - they are adept at offering tempting extra's but it all adds up and before you know it you have spent more than EUR 100 per person

  Pros

  I liked the quality of the food and rarey had such good value for money regarding the wine. Excellent wines for very reasonable prices.

  Cons

  All exept one of the staff seemed to have no idea whatr they were doing. we were with a group of 12 and no one seemed to be able to remember who was vegitarian , who did not want fish etc. We constantly had to shuffle plates around. Furthermore the reataurant was so full and noisy, we could not have a decent conversation.
