This picturesque square is overlooked by the Museum of Western Friesland and by the public weighstation. It owes its name to the blood which frequently flowed during public executions (Rode Steen = red stone). To the center, you will notice a statue (19^e s.) of Jan Pieterszoon Coen. The house at No. 2 has a stone on its façade depicting a blacksmith, hence its name In Dyser Man (At the sign of the Iron Man).
