Hulst : Michelin's recommendations
Located near the Belgian border, this small town with neat colourful houses and streets paved with red brick is an old stronghold built according to the old Dutch system with 9 bastions and 5 half-moon bastions. Hulst was once the capital of the region of the Quatre-Métiers, comprising Axel, Assenede and Boechout (the last two have been Belgian since 1830). The town has preserved from the 14C grassy ramparts with bastions, crowned with attractive trees and surrounded by moats.
