Located in an old orphanage from the 17C, this museum is dedicated to Friesian wildlife: the composition and evolution of the ground, landscapes(wadden, woods, marshes, areas transformed by man), plants and animals. The permanent exhibition "Friesland under water" (Friesland onder water) takes you on a walk along the bottom of a ditch. You will also discover the world of whales and dolphins. The museum has the skeleton of sperm whale (15m long) beached near Ameland in 1994.
