This museum focuses on the flora and fauna of southern Limburg.The geology runs from the beginning (350 million years ago) of the Carboniferous period to the arrival of the Romans. The fossils found in the local clay are very well presented, and several examples date from the upper Cretaceous period (74 to 65 million years ago), also known as the “Maastrichtian” period. The remains of huge mososaurs and giant tortoises excavated from the hill of St-Pietersburg are remarkable.
