As well as the Public weigh house ( Waag) which stands in the centre, this square has a collection of four 17C houses one of which is pierced by a decorated vaulted passage (1605), the Kerkboog. Near to the chevet of the church, the old Latin school (Latijnse School) is an attractive construction from 1554. The bronze statue of Mariken van Nieumeghen stands on the square: she was the heroine of a religious drama dating from the end of the 15C.
