Oudewater : Michelin's recommendations
Oudewater is one of the oldest towns in the Netherlands. It was the birthplace of Jacobius Arminius (around 1560-1609) and the primitive painter Gerard David (around 1460-1523), who set himself up in Bruges in 1483. The town owes its fame amongst other things to its witches' scales , where all women suspected of witchcraft were weighed in the 16C.
