This museum was created in 1874 thanks to Prince Hendrick, brother of William III, a naval officer and founded of the Royal Dutch Yatch Club. Originally occupying what is now the Wereldsmuseum, the collections were moved in 1979, and have been in the current building (by architect Wim Quist) since 1986. It includes a fine selection of models, notably of Holland America Line (HAL) ships, and the treasures of theKoninklijke Nedlloyd collection, plus an impressive scale model of Rotterdam’s port.
