Stavoren : Michelin's recommendations

This fishing village has two marinas. It is linked to Enkhuizen by boat. Once the capital of the Frisian Kings, then a Hanseatic town, it was converted by St Odulphe and flourished from the 11C. But its port silted up: according to legend, a rich widow ordered the captain of one of her ships to bring her a precious cargo. He came back to Stavoren with grain and the furious woman had it dumped in the port.
