Queen Emma’s former palace displays the works of artist Maurits Cornelius Escher (1898-1972). Using either tangible figures (fish, birds, reptiles, humans) or more artificial forms (unravelled knots, three-dimensional cross-sections, contrasts between high and low or convex and concave), Escher creates a “dream world” of pure fantasy, all kinds of impossible entities and landscapes of inverted perspectives. Interactive facilities allow visitors to immerse themselves in the artist’s world.
