The ruined castle of the lords of Fauquemont dominates the town. Only some wall section and lancet arches remain of this fortress begun in 1087 and altered in the Gothic era. It was the target of many sieges. Legends have arisen around these ruins, such as that of Walram and Reginald de Fauquemont who were both in love with Alix, daughter of the Counts of Juliers: Walram married her but Reginald killed them both.
