Located at the confluence of the Rhine and the Meuse, this small place (currently called Workum ) is still encircled by its ramparts. Today they have been converted into a walkway. Workum has a small marina, the departure point for a foot passenger ferry to the castle of Loevestein. You enter the town through the Koepoort , to the right of which stands the squat tower of the Gothic church, the walls of which are adorned with medallions.
