The seaweed covered barns that surround the De Traanroeier contain salvage boats, a navel construction workshop and a forge. One barn has been converted into a store for shipwreckers with some strange objects found on the beaches. Navigation and naval rescue (history of the Texel roads) are also recalled in 19C barns and a space is dedicated to underwater archaeology as the bottom of the Waddenzee is littered with wrecks.
