Chincha : Michelin's recommendations
An oasis in the midst of the desert, Chincha is a noisy town, whose status as the centre of Peru's Afro-Hispanic culture is its main appeal. In the evenings, Creole music blares out of the bars and clubs in the El Carmen District and from peñas, where the locals dance to the frenetic beat of the sound of cajóns (traditional percussion instruments of the mandingues, African slaves). These cabarets are particularly lively during the Festival of the Verano Negro, late February or early March.
