Chinchero Travel guide
Chinchero : Michelin's recommendations
According to an Inca legend, Chinchero is the birthplace of the rainbow. On a high plateau, 400m higher than Cuzco, this village is the site of several interesting Incan vestiges, a colonial church and a picturesque Sunday-morning market. It was one of the favourite 'holiday' spots of the Túpac Yupanqui, who built a palace here and developed andenes (terrace crops). Today, sheep and llamas graze in the fields, while the peasants wearing flat hats, spin and weave their wool.
