The ancient walls of the monasterio y museo Santa Catalina (17C) have for centuries provided refuge for women who wished to retreat from the world. From the virgins of acclahuasi (on which the convent was erected), well-born young girls dedicated to the Incan empire, to the nuns that live here today, its walls are steeped in devotion and meditation. Some of the convent's rooms are open and you can admire religious art and some works by the Cuzco School.
