Huanchaco Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Huanchaco, a tiny traditional fishing port, already in existence during the colonial era, is without doubt one of the most photographed sites in northern Peru. From the beach and near the jetty, you can see the fishermen out at sea, straddled across their fragile craft made out of woven reeds. These mythical caballitos de totora (small reed horses) endow Huanchaco with immense cachet. The little vessels date back to the Chimú era, illustrated by a number of pieces of pottery that also date from this epoch.
