A trip to Parón lagoon is one of the tourist highlights of this region. From Pueblo Parón, take the path (4hr-walk) to reach the other shore of the lake where there is another refuge of the Huascarán National Park. Parón lagoon is one of the Cordillera Blanco's largest glacier lakes (3.5km long and 800m wide). The seven snow-capped peaks of the ranges of Huandoy, Nevado Artesonraju and Nevado Pirámide de Garcilaso are reflected in its green-blue waters, in which blocks of ice occasionally float.
