Set in the Cordillera Blanca, the superb Parque nacional Huascarán has no lack of treasures. Glaciers and lakes reel past the eye in the midst of the puna and the sky is filled with countless birds (including the famous condor). You don't have to embark on an ascent of the highest peaks (over 6000m, such as the Nevado Huascarán), because others, such as the Nevado Pastouri or laguna Parón, are far more accessible (although the altitude will nonetheless demand a significant physical effort). Keep your eyes peeled: you may catch sight of an Andean cat or puma.
