Ica : Michelin's recommendations
Ica stands in a lush, green valley in the heart of the desert. The irrigation system, invented by the Incas and still in working order, has led to the wealth of crops here, among which grape vines. The latter produces the famous piscos that you can sample in the local bodegas. The town is also home to a very interesting archaeological museum, but, sadly, many of its former colonial edifices were destroyed during a recent earthquake. Nearby, the magnificent oasis of laguna de Huacachina is popular with sandboarders, who career down its slopes.
