Jalca Grande
: Michelin's recommendations
Also known as La Jalca, this picturesque village is one of the most characteristic of the Chachapoyas region, with its tiny paved lanes and 16C dry-stone rustic church. Built on Pre-Hispanic foundations, the town has preserved a few houses built on a circular plan with pointed thatched roofs in pure Chachapoyas tradition. The population is almost entirely Indian and the women continue to don their traditional costume and high straw hats.
