Leimebamba : Michelin's recommendations

At the end of the valley of the Río Uctubamba, Leimebamba is a delightful little country town that is proud of its museo Mallki. Cited as a model of "cooperativism" because local craftsmen using regional materials built it, it is home to mummies (mallki) from Lake Condors. The museum is also outstanding for its educational layout, which features several preliminary rooms where the Chachapoyas culture is explained in detail with the help of plans, models and a number of remarkable objects.
