Incan ruins of Pisac
: Michelin's recommendations
The Incan ruins of Pisac are among the most extensive and best-preserved archaeological sites of Peru. Dominated by a fort (Q’Allaqasa which guarded the entrance to the Sacred Valley of the Incas), the site contains a religious sector (Intihuatana), the heart of which is the Sun Temple, a residential area, Kinchiracay, equipped with fortifications that protected the local population from attacks, and Pisaqa, where the nobility lived. The surrounding artificial mountain terraces bear witness to the Incas' sophisticated farming techniques.
