Puerto Maldonado : Michelin's recommendations
The town of Puerto Maldonado represents an ideal base camp to explore the Amazon forest. Natural reserves, such as the Parque nacional del Manu and Reserva nacional Tambopata, have preserved a fantastically rich variety of wildlife and flora, including some endangered species. For an even closer taste of this natural paradise, stay in one of the lodges built on the forest's edge. Afterwards you can choose from fishing from a canoe, hiking or rafting, as your fancy takes you.
