The inhabitants of the island of Amantaní grow cereal crops and a few vegetables, raise cattle and weave baskets. Quieter and more authentic than its neighbours, this island has no lack of pleasant surprises. You will discover a few vestiges of the Tiahuanaco civilisation at the summit of its two highest hills, where the Fiesta de la Santa Tierra is held every year at the end of January, a picturesque local festival during which the inhabitants make offerings to their Gods.
