Vizcachani, a small town halfway between Arequipa and Chivay, in the Colca valley, is an ideal spot to break your journey. The semi-arid landscape provides a superb vista of the surrounding volcanoes whose snow-capped peaks one never tires of. The local population is also more than happy to sell you some of its local crafts.
