The recently opened Museo Nacional Sicán, in the town of Ferreñafe, takes the visitor on a didactic tour of the major stages of the Sicán (or Lambayeque) culture. You will discover reconstitutions of a tomb of the Huaca del Loro (Batán Grande) and pottery and jewellery workshops, describing the various gilt and lamination techniques. The highlight of the museum is its huge, darkly lit jewellery room where sumptuous gold finery is displayed in illuminated cases.
