Visit the churches and universities where Pope John Paul II spent his formative years. Listen to your guide reveal how he rose swiftly through the ranks of the Catholic clergy to become Archbishop of Krakow.
John Paul II, or Karol Wojtyla, spent 40 years in and around and Krakow, a city which remained close to his heart. You'll begin your tour with a visit to St Florian's Church, where the young priest began his career. Continue to the Gothic basilica of St Mary's to see the plaque commemorating the 1981 "White March", when half a million Poles dressed in white marched in response to the assassination attempt on the then Pope.
Your next stop, Jagiellonian University, is where Karol Wojtyla lectured in theology. Then walk to the Archbishop's Palace before visiting the Archdiocese Museum and the Sanctuary of Our Lord's Mercyone of the most important pilgrimage centres in Poland.
