The pride of Krakow, this museum houses an important collection of European pictures from the 16C to the 19C. Looted by the Nazis, it was partially restocked prior to its nationalisation and incorporation into the National Museum in 1949. The jewel of the collection, theLady with an Ermine, was definitively attributed to Leonardo in 1992 when his fingerprints were discovered in the paint. Another major work is Rembrandt's Landscape with the Good Samaritan, on show in the Dutch paintings room.
